But other than that you learn nothing about the temple, like what it’s about, when it was built, what does it stand for etc! The main attraction is clearly the famous “Gate of Heaven” photo spot, and the whole experience is heavily centered around taking pictures.\n\nBe prepared for long waiting times — it can easily take 1.5 to 2 hours just to get your turn for photos. Because of this, it feels more like a photo-driven attraction rather than a place to explore or spend time in.\n\nAnother downside is the lack of proper facilities. There are no well-maintained toilets inside, and the nearby options are generally not very clean.\n\nThat said, despite all these points, the view and overall atmosphere are still beautiful and unique. They allow for ~4 poses per group and then ~4 poses per person. Aside from taking the photo, there is nothing interesting above nor on the way there.\n\nMany people mention great views of mount agung. Please beware that is totally weather-dependent.
