Train Street in Hanoi is a truly unique and exciting experience! Watching a train rumble through a narrow alley just inches from homes and cafes is something you won’t see anywhere else. The atmosphere is vibrant, especially when a train is about to pass—locals and tourists all gather, and there’s a real buzz in the air. There are plenty of small cafes along the tracks where you can grab a drink and wait for the train. The owners are usually very friendly and often let you know exactly when the next train is coming. It’s a great photo opportunity and gives a taste of everyday life in Hanoi. One downside is that access can sometimes be restricted by local authorities due to safety concerns, and it’s important to be respectful of residents living there. Always follow the guidance of cafe staff and security to stay safe. Overall, a must-visit if you're in Hanoi and want something a little off the beaten path—but go with awareness and respect for the locals who live there.

Avoid the Hype: An Overpriced Tourist Trap for "Influencers" I honestly don’t understand the obsession with this place. Our visit to Train Street was a complete disappointment and, frankly, quite ridiculous. The "Influencer" Circus: The small section of the tracks is absolutely packed with "dumb influencers" trying to look cute for their cameras. It’s honestly painful to watch—they are so busy posing and trying to get the "perfect shot" that they don’t even realize how ridiculous they look to everyone else. The Experience: Waiting around for ages just to see a train pass by for a few seconds is a total waste of time. The whole thing feels forced, artificial, and honestly a bit pathetic. The Atmosphere: It’s anything but relaxing. You are surrounded by crowds and pushy locals who practically try to force you to sit down and order just so you’re allowed to stay. The aggressive sales tactics are a huge turn-off. Prices: For Vietnam standards, the coffee is massively overpriced. You’re essentially paying a "tourist tax" to sit in a crowded, noisy alleyway. My Advice: Save your money and your nerves. Hanoi has so many beautiful, authentic spots, but this isn't one of them. I can only hope they close Train Street to tourists soon for good.

Definitely visit train street while in Hanoi! the train runs about 3 times a day- morning afternoon around 3pm and evening. the afternoon was pretty busy i’d recommend seeing if the morning is less crowded! Lots of cool little bars and restaurants along the street! There are 2 different train streets in Hanoi at different locations both are pretty cool this one has a lot more bars and people! didn’t pay to walk down like some reviews say! both train streets have the train and same bar atmosphere this one just on bigger scale

Definitely a good place to visit in Hanoi. Very very busy at all times, but a great spot to take a few pictures for your Instagram or FB. Speak to one of the local shop owners to get you access to the variety of shops and cafes to watch the train go by. Be sure to take a cool video while your there. Had a bunch of free shots of their plum wine. Highly recommend this spot!

Visiting Hanoi's famous Train Street is an experience unlike any other, offering a captivating blend of local life, a thrilling spectacle, and a unique photo opportunity. While the street's status has been a bit in flux due to safety concerns, with temporary closures and reopenings, a tour is often the best and safest way to experience this one-of-a-kind attraction. A Train Street tour provides an insider's perspective on this iconic location. Rather than trying to navigate the sometimes-guarded entrances on your own, a local guide will lead you to a reputable café, ensuring you get to experience the magic legally and safely. These cafes are a huge part of the experience, with their brightly painted walls and tiny tables spilling out onto the tracks. The tour typically includes a refreshing drink, allowing you to relax and soak in the atmosphere. The real highlight, of course, is the train itself. As the scheduled train approaches, the entire street comes alive. Café owners swiftly pull back their tables and chairs, and tourists and locals alike press themselves against the walls of the houses. The air fills with the sound of the train's horn, and in a heart-pounding moment, the massive locomotive rumbles past just inches away. It’s an exhilarating rush that is both awe-inspiring and a little nerve-wracking. The experience is over in a flash, but the memory and the incredible photos you'll get are permanent. Beyond the train's passage, a Train Street tour is also an excellent way to see a more authentic side of Hanoi. The street is a residential area, and you can see the daily lives of the locals unfold around you. Laundry hangs from balconies, children play in the narrow alleys, and neighbors chat from their doorways. A good guide will share stories about the history of the street and the people who live there, enriching your visit far beyond just watching the train go by. A Train Street tour is a perfect mix of excitement and cultural immersion. It's an essential item for any Hanoi itinerary, offering a unique and unforgettable glimpse into a hidden corner of the city. Just be sure to listen to your guide and the café owners, and you'll have a fantastic and safe experience.
