Jaisalmer Railway Station – A Beautiful Gateway to the Golden City The newly renovated Jaisalmer Railway Station is more than just a transportation hub; it is a grand welcome to one of India's most fascinating heritage destinations. Inspired by the city's iconic yellow sandstone architecture, the station now reflects the royal charm and cultural identity of Jaisalmer from the moment visitors arrive. The renovation has significantly improved the station's appearance and passenger facilities. Clean platforms, better waiting areas, improved lighting, modern amenities, and aesthetically designed interiors have transformed it into one of Rajasthan's most attractive railway stations. The use of traditional design elements gives travelers a glimpse of Jaisalmer's rich heritage even before they begin exploring the city. Jaisalmer, often called the "Golden City of India," was founded in 1156 AD by Rawal Jaisal. Located in the heart of the Thar Desert, the city became an important trading center on the ancient Silk Route. Its world-famous fort, known as the Golden Fort, rises majestically from the desert and remains one of the few living forts in the world. The city's narrow lanes, havelis, temples, and vibrant culture continue to attract visitors from across the globe. The renovated railway station beautifully captures this historic essence. The architecture blends modern functionality with traditional Rajasthani craftsmanship, creating a memorable first impression for tourists. As tourism continues to grow in Jaisalmer, the station serves as a symbol of the city's commitment to preserving its heritage while embracing modern development. Overall, the new Jaisalmer Railway Station is a remarkable achievement that successfully combines comfort, culture, and history. It stands as a proud gateway to the Golden City and enhances the travel experience for every visitor arriving in this magnificent desert destination.

Jaisalmer (code JSM) railway station is in Rajasthan. I recently visited Jaisalmer in mid-April 2026. It has been vastly improved in recent times. The station building has been improved with proper washrooms. There is, a waiting Hall for upper class passengers though everyone seems to be using it. It has washroom/bathing facility. The station has 3-platforms with escalators though only 1 was working when I visited. There are around 9 trains originating from from Jaisalmer towardsJvarious places like Jodhpur/Jaipur/Lalgarh/Bikaner/Delhi. Overall, it's a nice station though not much eating options available. You need to go outside the station to find something to eat.

Newly built station. There are like 3 floors, with bathroom on every floor but all toilets are closed. Ac waiting room was good. Could use more vendors selling food.

Jaisalmer Railway Station is neat and clean. The station is built using the yellow sandstone native to Jaisalmer, and the architecture genuinely feels like a heritage palace. We also got lucky and saw the Palace on Wheels train, which was a nice moment. The best part for tourists is the cloak room. You can store luggage for ₹20 per bag, which is super helpful if you want to roam around the city without carrying bags. Overall, clean, well-maintained, and very tourist-friendly.

Jaisalmer Railway Station is famous among all the railway stations of India for its grandeur. The carved beauty of the stones here makes it the best and most beautiful railway station! Jaisalmer
