The Big Buddha is one of those places that’s worth visiting at least once while you’re in Phuket. The statue itself is massive and impressive up close, but what really stood out to me were the panoramic views from the top. On a clear day, you can see across Phuket, the coastline, and the surrounding hills. It’s a peaceful place to slow down and take everything in. The atmosphere is calm and respectful, even with plenty of visitors around. Take your time walking around the grounds, enjoy the different viewpoints, and don’t forget to look behind the main statue for even more scenic views. A heads-up before you go: the road leading up is quite steep and winding, so if you get motion sickness, it’s worth preparing beforehand. Important note: This is an active religious site, so please dress respectfully. Women need to have their shoulders and knees covered before entering. If you’re not dressed appropriately, you’ll need to purchase or rent a cover-up at the entrance. Overall, it’s a beautiful landmark with incredible views and a peaceful atmosphere. Whether you’re visiting for the cultural significance, the scenery, or just to admire the enormous marble Buddha, it’s definitely one of Phuket’s must-visit attractions.

An exceptional and profoundly beautiful landmark. The Phuket Big Buddha is an architectural marvel that offers a deeply moving experience. The scale of the monument, coupled with the pristine white jade marble reflecting the sunlight, is genuinely breathtaking. The summit exudes a remarkably peaceful and reverent atmosphere, providing a welcome contrast to the bustling coastal areas. Furthermore, the location grants visitors unrivaled, 360-degree panoramic vistas over Chalong Bay and the surrounding islands. I hold this visit in the highest regard and strongly recommend it to anyone seeking to experience Phuket's finest cultural and scenic highlights

An unforgettable experience! The temple is beautifully maintained, with breathtaking architecture, intricate artwork, and a peaceful atmosphere that reflects Thailand's rich Buddhist heritage. Every corner offers something unique to admire, making it a wonderful place for both sightseeing and quiet reflection. I recommend visiting early in the morning to enjoy the serenity and avoid the crowds. A must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Thailand.

The Big Buddha, Phuket – A Harmonious Blend of Grandeur and Peace The Big Buddha in Phuket ranks among the island’s most iconic landmarks and is truly a must-visit for travelers seeking both architectural grandeur and spiritual tranquility. The site offers two main attractions—the magnificent 45-meter marble statue itself and the breathtaking panoramic views that stretch across Phuket’s coastline and lush hills. During my visit in late March, I was pleasantly surprised to find the site open to visitors after a period of temporary closure earlier in the year. The experience turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. Transportation typically drops visitors about 200–300 meters from the statue, followed by a short uphill walk to reach the first viewing level, and then several more steps to the base of the Big Buddha. The view from both levels is truly spectacular, providing a sense of calm and perspective that words scarcely capture. The statue’s sheer size can only be appreciated up close—its imposing presence serves as a reminder of the strength and serenity that define Thai Buddhist culture. The complex also provides seating areas where visitors can rest and take in the sights. As with most temple sites, modest attire is mandatory; visitors dressed inappropriately may need to rent or purchase suitable clothing at the entrance. It is also customary to remove shoes when entering the temple area—a practice some tourists overlook, unfortunately. For comfort, carry an umbrella and water, especially during sunny hours. Above all, approach the site with respect for local customs and rituals; doing so enhances not just the experience but the deeper sense of peace the place evokes.

This must be my third time visiting to pay homage. During my previous visit, it was closed for renovation. Today, I was greeted by a stunning, long white Naga staircase that stretches gracefully upwards. Arriving in the late afternoon, there wasn't much traffic, so I could take a leisurely stroll, enjoy the scenic view, and thoroughly enjoy taking photos.
