Sainte Chapelle

We fly on the seat of our pants and don't have time to plan our events...so if it's busy season we don't always have an option to reserve times. Saint Chappelle is a busier place -- we had to stand in a no tickets line. It worked out (with Museum Pass). What a wonderful place. You can make this a long visit if you want to relax and take it in. Or you can make it quick. The Conciergerie is right there, too -- so plan them together. It took us about 45 minutes to get through the wait line. Reservations recommended. Was a little confused by some scaffolding and mirrors covering up a corner of the chapel. Didn't ask about it. Beautiful place. Amazing stained glass. Well worth a visit.

Sainte-Chapelle is absolutely stunning and one of the most beautiful places we visited in Paris. When we arrived, there was a long line, and staff told us it would take about one to one and a half hours to get inside. The wait was worth it, though. The interior is breathtaking. The stained-glass windows are incredible, and when the sunlight shines through them, the whole chapel glows with color. The architecture and details are amazing and unlike anything we had seen before. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Paris, but be prepared for a wait during busy times.

Beautiful, historic church that was built to house The Crown of Thorns by King Louis IX. The church was built in 7 years. Be sure to spy the crown of thorns on the smallest spire before you go in. There is a chapel meant for the King on the bottom floor. At present they are restoring it to its rich colors. Up the winding stairs to the main Chappell you are rewarded with the at least 2-3 story tall Stainglass windows. Even on a cloudy day they are impressive.

Sainte-Chapelle is one of the most breathtaking places to visit in Paris. The stained-glass windows are absolutely spectacular and create an unforgettable atmosphere, especially when the sunlight shines through them. The level of detail and the vibrant colors are truly incredible. Although the chapel is relatively small, its beauty and historical significance make it one of the city’s hidden treasures. I recommend booking tickets in advance, as it can get quite busy. A masterpiece of Gothic architecture and a must-see when visiting Paris.

Sainte Chapelle is definitely a must visit while you are in Paris as it is one of the most beautifully well preserved churches thanks to the unbelievable stained glass. Be prepared however, even with reservation tickets booked in advance, the lines can still be very long. It took us approximately 25–30 minutes to enter despite having timed tickets. There are three lines depending on your reservation time slot, plus another line for visitors without reservations. Security is also fairly strict as you must pass through a metal detector before entering. Regardless, it is absolutely worth the wait. Once you enter and make your way upstairs through the narrow staircase, you are immediately in awe looking upward at the dramatic stained glass surrounding the chapel. It is peaceful, unique, and honestly something pictures cannot fully capture. You truly have to see this place in person to appreciate it.
