The scale, architecture, craftsmanship, and atmosphere are almost overwhelming when you first walk inside. It is one of those places where photographs simply cannot capture what it feels like to stand there in person.\n\nThen there is the Magna Carta.\n\nSeeing an original surviving copy of one of the foundational documents of Western democracy was genuinely incredible. Its influence on the rule of law, individual rights, constitutional government, and later democratic traditions cannot be overstated. Standing only a few feet away from something that helped shape the political and legal foundations of the modern Western world was surreal.\n\nEven without the Magna Carta, Salisbury Cathedral would be worth visiting. With it, the cathedral becomes borderline unmissable.\n\nThe staff were also welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about preserving and sharing the cathedral’s history.
