What an amazing time we had when we visited The Globe to see Midsummer Night's Dream! We started with lunch outside at The Swan - the mussels were to die for - then went straight into The Globe, armed with our cushions. The atmosphere was joyful. Thongs going on all around us half an hoyr before the petformance started. There were "auditions" on the stage, fabulous music and singing to join in with. We loved it all. The play was fantastic - we knew it would be but, somehow it was even better - exceeded every expectation. Well done to everyone at The Globe we had an afternoon we will never forget. Thank you.

A unique and interesting show experience, but be thoughtful about whether your back is up for 2+ hours sitting on essentially a wood plank buffered by a thin 1" cushion. There are no backs to most of the seats. Your other alternative is standing as a "groundling" which is affordable, but uncomfortable in a different way. The show was great. An intelligent, modern, engaging presentation of Midsummer Night's Dream that made clever use of the audience too. The actors were great at putting life into the characters and story. We did a tour afterwards that was billed as "behind the scenes" but was actually more about the history of the theater and more about front of house - the seats and people who went there in the 1600s. It was good, but I really wanted to see behind the scenes, under the stage, etc. It was said that this wouldn't be possible because there were actors backstage preparing for the second show of the day. Okay, but disappointing nonetheless. Anyway, this was a cool thing to do once as a family full of Thespians, but probably not on my "every trip" list.

A Midsummer Dream at The Globe: Lord, What Fools These Mortals Be! There is something inherently magical about traveling up to London to watch A Midsummer Night's Dream at Shakespeare’s Globe, specifically during midsummer in England. It is a play close to my heart and it remains the ultimate theatrical confection. After all, who can resist a masterpiece brimming with fairies, magic potions, unrequited love, generational clashes, and a hilarious play-within-a-play that gives a cheeky, comedic wink to Romeo and Juliet? The entire production was an absolute triumph of joy. As a former "sprite" myself, I take my hat entirely off to the exceptionally talented players. They utilized the unique architecture of the Globe beautifully, masterfully looping the groundlings and audience directly into the action. What made the performance truly shine was how effortlessly the cast modernized the emotional responses and societal mores, making the characters feel incredibly fresh, relatable, and sharp for a contemporary audience. The comedic timing was so utterly spot-on that certain scenes had me laughing until I literally cried. The Verdict: An unforgettable afternoon of pure theatrical bliss, shared with family under the open London sky. It is a production that honors the text while injecting it with a vibrant, modern heartbeat. If you want an experience that moves you, makes you weep with laughter, and leaves you feeling thoroughly enchanted, hitch a ride to the wooden O. Lord Puck and King Oberon would most definitely approve.

Tour was facinating and entertaining. Museum consolidated information from the guided tour, and shop has lots of Shakespeare goods to buy. Photos aren't encouraged when rehearsing but was lucky our visit avoided that so have capturedlovely memories.

What a truly magical evening. From beginning to end, the amazing staff kept the experience smooth and hassle free. The venue is a wonderful recreation of the original globe and does not disappoint in the least. Yes - the seats can be uncomfortable, but you should have already known that going in.
