We recently took the Peak Tram up to Victoria Peak, and it was a fantastic evening out for our family. Traveling with a young child can sometimes be tricky, but the upgraded tram was spacious, comfortable, and gave our little one a huge thrill as we made the steep, scenic climb up the mountain. It felt very safe and manageable for the three of us. Once we reached the summit, we were pleasantly surprised by how convenient everything was. The Peak Tower and the nearby Peak Galleria are packed with a great variety of shops and casual dining options. It made it incredibly easy to grab a bite to eat, browse for a few souvenirs, and take a relaxed break before heading to the viewing decks. The real highlight of the trip, though, was the night atmosphere. Stepping out to see the Hong Kong skyline completely illuminated was simply breathtaking. The cooler evening air and the sparkling city lights created a truly magical backdrop, and our child was just as mesmerized by the view as we were. It was an unforgettable way to experience the city together, and we highly recommend it to other families!

Hong Kong is a city best experienced through its distinct transit and walkable streets, and the Peak Tram remains a quintessential highlight of that urban landscape. The historic tram ride itself offers a steep, dramatic ascent that provides a captivating, ever-shifting perspective of the skyline as you climb. At the summit, Victoria Peak is well equipped with an extensive range of dining, shopping, and observation facilities that cater well to visitors of all ages. The panoramic view from the top is genuinely spectacular; even with partial cloud cover, the immense density and vertical scale of the cityscape below create a dramatic and memorable vista. Combining walking routes with the tram and local transit makes for a well-rounded and engaging way to explore the area. Whether visiting for the first time or returning, taking the Peak Tram up to Victoria Peak is an essential Hong Kong experience, rain or shine.

Bought tickets at the counter - waited in the queue about 10 minutes on a Sunday morning. Queue moves fast. Paid with credit card. It was my second time, first one 10 years ago. They have new trams now, lovely interiors, more seating space. The first time it felt more antique wooden trams. Be sure to sit on the right side while going up to enjoy the views. Doesn’t matter if you’ve bought tickets to Victoria Peak as well as you’ll end up seeing the same views at the top. Just sit and enjoy the steep ride!

The Peak Tram remains an absolute must-do in Hong Kong! What impressed us most was how operationally efficient everything is—the staff keep the crowds moving smoothly and minimize wait times. The ride itself takes under 10 minutes each way, giving you just enough time to soak in the incredible views and unique atmosphere as you climb up the mountain. Add this to your Hong Kong itinerary—you won't regret it!

The cherry on top of every trip to Hong Kong. The view onto the habour is just stunning and Hong Kong‘s skyline (that has the most high-rise buildings on the planet) is just breathtaking. Taking the tram up was actually great fun. It‘s quite steep and takes less than 10min. I would recommend sitting on the right side when going up to get the best view. In hindsight, I would definitely take this tram again as the walk up would be extremely exhausting, especially in the heat. Despite the steepness, next time I‘d not get the return ticket. Walking down the hill back to the city centre took me quite a while but was such an interesting experience I would recommend to everyone that has the right level of fitness.
