Very well curated museum with vast variety of under sea species. They have created very impressive habitat for many species on a miniature scale. There are sharks, jelly fish and penguins with beautiful views in under water tunnels and side ways. Kind really like this place

Best For: Families, marine life enthusiasts, travelers seeking a break from the tropical heat, or a rainy-day activity Average Duration: 1.5 to 2.5 hours OverviewSpanning nearly 6 acres along the popular Pantai Cenang beach, Underwater World Langkawi (UWL) is one of the largest oceanariums and freshwater aquariums in Southeast Asia. Home to over 4,000 species of marine and aquatic life—as well as reptiles, exotic birds, and small mammals—it offers a comprehensive, climate-controlled journey through multiple distinct ecosystems. Key Highlights & Key Zones1. Tropical Rainforest & Freshwater EcosystemThe Experience: The tour begins in a lush, walk-through rainforest environment that blends land and aquatic environments. What You’ll See: Free-flying birds like flamingos, cockatoos, and macaws; land species including iguanas, pythons, and marmosets; and massive freshwater species like the South American Arapaima, giant catfish, and Arowana. 2. Temperate & Sub-Antarctic Zones (Penguinarium & Fur Seals)The Experience: As you venture deeper, the temperature drops noticeably into cool, sub-antarctic climate enclosures designed for cold-climate life. What You’ll See:African Penguins: Viewed through an 8-meter tunnel, these agile swimmers waddle along the rocks and glide quickly through the water. Southern Rockhopper Penguins: Known for their distinct yellow crest "eyebrows" and playful nature as they hop across rock formations. Southern Fur Seals: Highly active and entertaining during scheduled feeding sessions. 3. Main Ocean Tunnel Tank (15 Meters)The Experience: The highlight of the complex is the 15-meter walk-through glass tunnel containing over 500,000 liters of seawater. What You’ll See: Giant stingrays, black-tip and white-tip reef sharks, green sea turtles, and massive groupers swimming directly overhead and beside you. 4. Coral Reef & Poisonous/Venomous SectionWhat You’ll See: Vibrant living coral displays populated by clownfish, sea anemones, giant clams, seahorses, delicate jellyfish, and camouflaged venomous species like lionfish, moray eels, and stonefish. Why It Deserves a 5-Star RatingDiverse Ecosystems Under One Roof: Unlike standard aquariums focused strictly on marine life, UWL integrates rainforest birds, reptiles, freshwater monsters, and polar penguins seamlessly into a single sequence. Close Encounters & Interactive Feedings: Daily feeding schedules allow visitors to watch trainers interact with penguins, fur seals, and sharks, which adds significant educational and entertainment value. Excellent Location & Facilities: Positioned right in Pantai Cenang, it's easily accessible and located next to duty-free shopping complexes and restaurants.Great Relief from Outdoor Heat: The air conditioning inside (especially in the penguin exhibits) provides a comfortable indoor refuge. Visitor Tips for the Best ExperienceCheck Feeding Schedules: Look at the daily feeding board right at the entrance so you can time your route around the penguin and fur seal feeds (typically held around mid-morning and mid-afternoon). Bring a Light Jacket/Shawl: The sub-antarctic penguin section is kept cold to maintain the animals' natural habitat.

Had a wonderful experience at Langkawi Underwater World! The place was clean, well-maintained, and had a great variety of marine life. It was enjoyable for both adults and children, and the whole family had a great time. Definitely a nice place to visit while in Langkawi! Highly recommended! ❤️

An aquarium worth visiting. With so many things to see from flamingos to penguins to sharks and turtles. Can spend a good hour or two here. They have set times for feeding with commentary provided which was a great touch to see. The aquarium is definitely a nice place to bring the kids or go as a family or couple. Reasonable entrance fee as well.

Decided to visit the attraction to escape the hot afternoon sun. The place was well maintained and do have quite a bit of exhabits and animals with some explanations. Try to find out the feeding time for different enclosures to make it more worthwhile. There is a gift shop and duty free shop close to the end It may not be for everyone but if you can get tickets for a good price or love sea animals to make sure it is part of your itinerary.
