Singaporean City Highlight Adventure: Chinatown, Gardens By the Bay, Marina Bay-Merlion, Sentosa-Aquarium, Skyline Luge
Chinatown is one of the best streets you could ever step foot on. Chinatown is home to eateries that provide authentic dishes, including Hainanese chicken rice, noodles, and satay. There are also tons of souvenir stores that sell clothing, crafts, and antiques. My spouse and I even went to Club Street and danced the night away once. The place is dotted with hip wine bars!
During the daytime, we headed to Gardens By The Bay and checked out the Marina Bay Sands and the Merlion, both renowned landmarks in Singapore. One thing my husband and I learned is that the Merlion represents the nation's history as a significant seaport and serves as a guardian of prosperity. The Merlion has a lion's head and a fish's body! We visited the Marina Bay Merlion and learned some cool facts. Did you know: The fishtail represents the fishing village of Temasek, also known as a sea town in Javanese? In contrast, the lion head depicts the folklore of Prince Sang Nila Utama's discovery of the lion and the city. My spouse and I were shocked. What an exciting story!
We also checked out the S.E.A. Aquarium, one of the biggest aquariums in the world, embarked on an underwater tour, and rode the Skyline Luge that is situated on the spectacular Island of Sentosa.
The S.E.A. Aquarium was fun to take pictures in. The place offers a vast range of marine life up close, including 12 different types of sharks and some endangered species like the manta ray. I learned tons of stuff and even touched some pools to learn more about aquatic life. We laughed and joked, calling each other names of fish and had a fun time behaving like teenagers.
The Skyline Luge is Singapore's best gravity-fuelled thrill ride. Complete with hairpin corners, exhilarating tunnels and downhill slopes through a mystical forest that lights up after sundown. We enjoyed the bends, turns, and tunnels from Imbiah Lookout down to the lovely Sentosa Island shoreline by selecting one of four exhilarating tracks at the Skyline Luge. I was a scaredy-cat but eventually got the hang of it.
