Family Vacay In Singapore

We have a plan to take the kids on a trip every year. Josh and I never travelled as much when we were young so we wanted our two girls to experience travel early. Singapore has been praised as one of the best family-friendly destinations so it's our destination this year.

Highlights

  • A Family Fun Day At The Singapore Zoo!

  • A Visit To The Universal Studios

  • A Day of Fun Learning in the ArtScience Museum

Day 1

A Family Fun Day At The Singapore Zoo!

We arrived in Singapore early morning at about 7 am. It was a long flight and the kids had slept all through which helped. We went to our hotel to refresh. Afterwards, we headed to Marina Bay to have breakfast.  We had breakfast at Toast Box Restaurant in Shoppes, Marina Bay Sands. This is a great place to have breakfast. We had Kaya toast, coffee, tea and hard-boiled eggs. The kids loved it.

After breakfast, we headed to the Singapore Zoo. Since it was early morning, it was not crowded. The zoo is an open concept with thousands of animals roaming around. The first one we met was an orangutan swinging overhead us. There were plenty of Kangaroos hopping around as well. The best part of it was seeing the white tiger in the moat. The background of lush green makes you feel like you are deep in the Jungle. I think the kids took a thousand pictures of the tiger.

It was a sunny day in Singapore but the foliage provided shade as we explored the zoo.

The kids had the most fun with the elephant rides in the afternoon. The zoo schedule also has animal feeding which was a highlight of the trip.

We spent the evening at Marina Bay Sands Skypark Observation Deck. Josh and I had some wine for the evening while the kids took turns taking photos of each and updating their social media.

Day 2

A Visit To The Universal Studios

We had planned our day to be spent in Universal studios. This is one of the things you must do in Singapore whether with a company or alone. Especially if you are with kids since it has a lot of theme parks. We had planned to spend the whole day there. The weather was perfectly sunny. It was surprisingly not as crowded as we expected. We got one-day tickets for the whole family.

My daughters were looking forward to this visit the most. They are both tall enough to go on every ride.

The first ride we went on was the Canopy flyer. It was a short but great ride and a perfect starter. After that we went on more thrilling rides Battlestar Galactica: Cyclon and Transformers The Ride: The Ultimate 3D battle. Josh and I preferred the slower ones; Magic Potion Spin and  Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure. We also went to Hollywood and had iced coffee at the Starbucks there. Our favourite spot was Madagascar. It really brings the movie to life. We took a stroll at the elegant Romeo drive. Despite the hot weather, the visit was the best part of our trip.

In the evening, we took a cable car ride. We used the Mount Faber Line in order to truly experience Singapore. The cable car ride made up for our day in the hot sun. The night breeze was so good! The cable car ride started out smooth without a single jerk. We ordered a 4-course Japanese cuisine for our dinner in the cabin. It was an unforgettable experience dining as we watched a 360º panoramic view of Singapore. Sentosa was breathtaking as we flew into the Sentosa station. This ride became the highlight of our visit.

Day 3

A Day of Fun Learning in the ArtScience Museum

Our itinerary for the day would start at the ArtScience Museum of Singapore. This is a visual fest and was even better because the girls really seemed to enjoy it. We went to the Future World Exhibition and we were welcomed by vibrant colours and breathtaking animations. The artworks were very interactive and definitely Insta-friendly considering how many pictures the girls took. Our best attractions were Transcending Boundaries, Sketch Town, Sketch Aquarium and the 100 Years Sea.

We ate lunch at Cut by Wolfgang Puck which had excellent food, perfect service and a world ambience. We are definitely going back here again when in Singapore.  After lunch, we visited the Science Centre. The girls love all things science. Don’t know where they get it from because Josh and I were not very fond of Science. There are so many exhibitions to see. We started with the Ecogaden where there were a wide variety of plants grown away from human interference. Next, we witnessed a Fire Tornado Demonstration among others. Afterwards, we headed to the Omni-theatre to experience the I-Max theatre in a dome. The screen is five-story high! We saw massive mammoths come to life! Grace seemed to really enjoy seeing bears up close.

We ended our day at dp Bistro & Oyster Bar in time for the Oyster happy hour. The food was so fresh with great service.
