Abu Dhabi Fam Jam

It is quite hard to find a place which is entertaining for both adults and kids at the same time, but I think we have found a perfect family weekend break. What was the most exciting part was that even my 4-year-old participated. Don't miss out on exploring Abu Dhabi when you are in the UAE.

  • Fun day @ Warner Brothers

Day 1

Louvre, Abu Dhabi & Sheikh Zayed Mosque

We decided to spend 2 days in Abu Dhabi and drove from Dubai, where we live. We left home shortly after feeding the kids breakfast and our first stop was the Louvre in Abu Dhabi. The Louvre Abu Dhabi is a collaboration between France and the United Arab Emirates. As I love art, I wanted to make a quick stop to show my young daughter what the art world is like and hope to spark her imagination as she loves to draw. The Louvre Abu Dhabi is a miracle, bringing different cultures together to showcase shared stories of humanity. In March 2007, The UAE and France formed an unprecedented partnership and the highlight was the establishment of Louvre Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island. It represents the dynamic nature of the contemporary Arab world while celebrating the region’s vibrant multicultural heritage. Agence France-Muséums – 17 of France’s most renowned cultural institutions – coordinates the loan of artworks to this UAE museum and provides management expertise. From the incredible exhibitions to the breath-taking architecture, it is a cultural feast for the eyes. I have to admit we lost ourselves for a minute there. Even my daughter, who is usually very restless was awestruck by the brilliant white against the blue of the island. I decided to bring her here more often and show her the magic of art as we are lucky to have this less than a 2 hour drive from home. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Fresh off the glorious wonder of the Abu Dhabi Louvre, we went to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. This is one of the world's largest mosques and is deemed an architectural masterpiece. Abu Dhabi offers you architecture in a way you haven’t experienced before. How could anyone complain when they lay eyes upon Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque? This place is astonishingly beautiful with marble pillars touched with gold leading the way to the prayer hall. Inside, it’s purely magnificent, home to massive crystal chandeliers and what we were told was the largest Iranian carpet anywhere on the planet. In addition to being one of the most stunning places we’ve ever laid our eyes on both inside and out, it was a welcoming place for everyone. You could feel it exude an aura of peace and serenity. The mosque has combined Islamic architecture and design to create pure magnificence. We held hands in the mosque wearing the abaya and looking at the magic of one of the largest woven carpets in the world. My daughter enjoyed practising all the colours she saw here and ran around the beautifully landscaped exteriors.

After the experience , enjoy good food and a unique ambience @ Rainforest Cafe, Yas Mall. Every kid would love to eat here, cocooned in the wonder of an enchanted rainforest.

Day 3

Fun day @ Warner Bros

There is so much to see in Abu Dhabi, but the husband and I were in firm agreement that if we took the kids to do something they’d like, they wouldn’t complain the rest of the trip. That’s a pro tip I’d like to offer to all parents, for it truly worked. Warner Bros World is an indoor theme park so you won’t have to hear any objections about the weather no matter when you go. Once inside, we were in absolute awe! It took us away, surrounding us with our favourite characters. My husband and I watched in absolute amusement as our teens got swept up in the magic, just like when they were little. I must admit, it was hard for us all not to be swept away. The park has 6 sections each with a different theme. There are over 28 thrilling rides plus live shows at almost every turn. We saw the Flintstones, Scooby-Doo, Bugs Bunny, and other famous characters. The kids were a little less excited about that, but when we arrived at Metropolis and Superman was there, that changed everything. The Batman Knight Flight ride was a favourite for all 4 of us. The kids wouldn’t stop chattering about it, and we wound up right back in line to do it again. It was an absolute blast! But if your kids are a little too small for that, there are plenty of other attractions like the Scooby-Doo Museum of Mysteries or the Acme Factory. We spent the whole day enjoying this indoor theme park, and while we had plenty to snack on, we needed a dinner where we could just sit and dine. We had an amazing Lebanese meal @ Otantik restaurant and cafe.
