Girls Explore Sensational Singapore

My three friends, Prisha, Fatima, Kiara, and I have been trying to organize a girl's trip for a long time. We decided to visit Singapore for one night and one day. We experienced the fun nighttime of Kampong Bugis and spent the next day shopping in Marina Bay Sands, visiting Merlion Park and Chinatown Heritage

Highlights

  • The thrilling nightlife of Kampong Bugis and a day of shopping at Marina Bay Sands

Day 1

The thrilling nightlife of Kampong Bugis and a day of shopping at Marina Bay Sands

We boarded our flight in New Delhi and five hours later, we were in Singapore. The festive Singapore air greeted us when we landed. Singapore is clearly a city that does not sleep. The streets were busy with people in late-night eateries, heading for drinks after a long day of work, or just local tourists like us looking for some late-night attractions.

We took a taxi to Kampong Bugis and checked into the hotel we had booked on short notice. We refreshed, dressed for a girl's night out, and headed out to have the time of our lives in Kampong Bugis. Nightime in Kampong Bugis is among the top things to do in Singapore. It was so amazing to laugh over clothes, make up and our common love for shoe shopping!

We were all starving so we went straight to Chinatown for a meal. This is actually one of the things that brought us to Singapore. The cuisine in Singapore has a reputation for being incredibly delicious. We went straight to G7 Sin Ma Live Seafood Restaurant. The restaurant had a very good ambiance. The staff provided very good service. The frog leg porridge was very delicious with generous portions and we asked the locals for reccomendations on what to eat. It was lovely because people share the love of trying new cuisine and we exchanged ideas about fusion food!

After dinner, we went to the Bugis street market before it closed at 10 pm. The market makes night look like a day with its bright lights and streets bustling with people. The air was really cool so going from shops to vendors buying a few things was not exhausting at all. There is so much to shop and you are only limited by your imagination or credit cards, haha!

We headed to the Golden Mile Complex next. They call this “Little Thailand”. The servers were mainly women some were also singing and dancing. We had a few drinks to kick off our fun night while listening to some Thai pop. Then it was time to sample some cocktails. We started at Hood Bar and Cafe which is famed for its potent cocktails. We were lucky to get seats since the place was packed to capacity. The cocktails were really good and the loud music livened up the night.

After hopping from one bar to another, we finished our night in Terra Rooftop Bar in Suntec City. It was the perfect place to stare out at the bright night lights and have some more drinks and a happy evening, watching night fall over the sparkling city.

Day 2

Exploring the museums, shopping at streets of Singapore

The next day, after breakfast, we went to Merlion Parkin. We went early to avoid crowds. We took a ride to the Mouth of Merlion and enjoyed some stunning views over the Strait of Singapore.

Next, we visited Marina Bay Sands. The towering structures where a boat rests on three skyscrapers is a sight to behold. We started at the ArtScience Museum. Fatima and I had specifically come to see the Attack On Titan exhibition. As huge AOT fans, we got to see our favorite scenes on the walls. This was honestly the best part of the whole trip. We took photos of the blue and the red wall.

We also went to the Digital Light Canvas and it was so amazing. It's a creativity and technology meeting and it felt unreal. We finished off our Marina Bay Sands tour at the SkyPark Observation Deck. Singapore looked so beautiful from the observation deck.

We had lunch at Bay Sushi at Marina Bay Sands. The service was quick and very friendly. The Sushi was very delicious. The food in Singapore is enough to make you come back.

We spent our afternoon at the Chinatown Heritage Center. Since we went in the afternoon, it was really crowded. The museum is small so arriving early is the best option. The photos, video footage, and artifacts were a very engaging experience. On the top floor, we were able to see what Chinatown looked like in the 1950s. In the 1950s Chinatown was a bustling place filled with seamstresses, artists, and carpenters. It was fun to walk through time and we wondered what the place will become in the future - maybe in 2050!
