As a finance professional with a hectic schedule, finding the perfect getaway to disconnect and rejuvenate was my top priority. After much consideration, I settled on the Four Seasons Resort in Koh Samui, Thailand. This heaven was my real-life version of the intriguingly dramatic resort featured in the TV series "White Lotus."

As I stepped onto the sun-kissed paradise of Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, I was instantly enveloped by the symphony of rustling palm trees and the intoxicating scent of sea salt carried on a gentle breeze. Nestled amidst tropical greenery and overlooking the serene Gulf of Thailand, the resort was an invitation to indulge in life's greatest pleasures. Whether lounging by the azure infinity pool with a refreshing cocktail in hand or gazing from my private deck at the dance of the waves, every moment had its magic. On day 1, they showed me around. We met people from so many countries, and by day 2, my butler knew which coffee I liked. Refreshed, on the same date, I booked a Reiki session with the Reiki Master Ronan Cullen – an Irish expat living in Thailand for 19 years. By noon, I was already up for a swimming session with a drink down my belly from the poolside bar.

For an adventurous heart like mine, the resort's offerings were irresistible. Training in the art of Muay Thai under the open sky, exploring the colourful marine life during a luxury yacht trip, and savouring culinary masterpieces in romantic beachside settings turned my stay into an extraordinary narrative of discovery and delight.

Every detail, from the service to the scenery, embraced me in a warm Thai welcome, crafting memories I would take home long after my footprints on the beach had been washed away.

When I arrived at the Four Seasons Resort, the stress of my busy lifestyle began to melt away. Greeted with traditional Thai hospitality, I was escorted to my lavish villa. Perched on a hillside, my sanctuary offered stunning views of the Gulf of Thailand with an infinity pool that seemed to merge into the ocean. The villa’s blend of contemporary decor and traditional Thai elements mirrored the exquisite aesthetic of the White Lotus fictional resort, seamlessly blending luxury with local culture. Navigating through communal spaces, I quickly realised that much like the White Lotus in the series, our resort had its diverse mix of guests. The resort bubbled with vibrant energy, from families on their dream vacations to couples enjoying romantic retreats and solo travellers like me seeking solace.

As in the show, these strangers soon became familiar faces. I bonded with other guests during communal activities, such as yoga sessions and cooking classes. Our conversations quickly evolved into shared adventures, weaving a tapestry of connection and camaraderie that enriched my stay.

Island Safari Tours: Our first group outing was an island safari tour. Travelling in an open-air jeep, we explored the rugged beauty of Koh Samui. The tour took us through lush jungle trails to hidden waterfalls like the Na Muang Waterfalls, where we enjoyed a refreshing swim. We also visited the iconic Big Buddha Temple, offering panoramic views that mirrored the mesmerising visuals seen at the White Lotus.

Ang Thong National Marine Park Excursion: A standout experience was a day trip to Ang Thong National Marine Park. This adventure included snorkelling in crystal-clear waters, kayaking around majestic limestone cliffs, and lounging on secluded beaches. The stunning natural surroundings were reminiscent of the pristine environments in the show, providing a picturesque backdrop for a day of adventure.

To fully unwind, I indulged in the resort’s spa treatments. The traditional Thai massage was transformative in a serene spa pavilion surrounded by lush greenery. Yoga sessions at sunrise on the beach brought peace and balance to my days, mirroring the series' luxurious wellness offerings.

Evenings were perfect for unwinding and socialising, much like the evenings portrayed at the White Lotus resort. The Beach Bar and 'KOH' restaurant became our regular haunts. Whether enjoying a cocktail at sunset or savouring gourmet Thai cuisine, the ambience was always welcoming, fostering conversations and new friendships.

No murder surprise, as is the theme of the White Lotus show – it was just pure bliss and a perfect holiday. As my stay at the Four Seasons Koh Samui drew close, I realised how much this luxurious yet intimate getaway mirrored the fictional White Lotus. My villa provided the ideal sanctuary to unwind, and the range of activities and experiences allowed me to explore the island while connecting with fascinating people from around the world. Koh Samui’s charm lies in its natural beauty, the connections you make, and the diverse experiences it offers.
