Hush! Not everybody will tell you this…
Unlike the usual pages of familiar travel guides, my journey to this aquarium in Abu Dhabi was infused with local wisdom and subtle secrets. It was a weekday visit, intentionally chosen to avoid the bustling weekend crowds. This strategic choice allowed the tranquil hush of the water to speak volumes. A lesser-known tip that served me well was arriving early in the morning. The visitor crowds were sparse, and I had ample time to savour each exhibit, journeying into aquatic life unhurriedly.
The National Aquarium isn't merely about passive viewing; it's an experience that demands engagement. One tip most visitors overlook is to invest in the exclusive "Behind the Scenes" experience. This underrated treasure offers an intimate audience with the marine caretakers, allowing me to peek behind the glass into the daily life of an aquarist. From feeding sessions and habitat curation to groundbreaking conservation efforts, I became part of their world in the most gratifying ways.

Look beyond the aquarium walls…
Beyond the aquarium’s glass and saltwater, my exploration of Al Qana included enjoying an artificial thunderstorm, indulging in the themed ambience with local folklore, and tasting the local cuisine from nearby vendors. For a nourishing and nostalgic experience, I grabbed a traditional Emirati breakfast at a café within Al Qana before starting my exploration. These experiences charmed the soul, offering both sustenance and stories of the land.
