Is Abu Dhabi too hot in Summer? Follow Summer Cheat Sheet
Hello, Namaste, Hola, Bonjour, fellow travellers!
Planning your next summer getaway? Let me take you on a journey to Abu Dhabi- a destination that might not be on your radar yet, but absolutely should be.
Last summer, I spent a few weeks there, not expecting much beyond the desert heat. But what I found was unexpectedly fun, vibrant, and an unforgettable summer of my life!
And now, as a content intern at Alike, I finally get to share that experience with you! So, if you are looking for a destination that surprises you in the best ways, Abu Dhabi might just be it.
Abu Dhabi's Summer Climate
First things first, let's talk about the weather. The Abu Dhabi summer temperature typically ranges between 38°C to 42°C during the Abu Dhabi summer months of June to August. Yes, it's hot, but don't let that deter you. The city is well-equipped with air-conditioned attractions, malls, and transportation to keep you comfortable.
Abu Dhabi Summer Hotspots
Abu Dhabi is not just about skyscrapers and sand dunes - it's a treasure of experiences, especially during the Abu Dhabi summer months. Whether you're travelling with family, your better half, or going solo, there’s something here for everyone. And don’t worry about the heat - most of these attractions are fully air-conditioned or designed to keep you cool and comfy.
Ferrari World Abu Dhabi

A fully indoor theme park on Yas Island, home to Formula Rossa, the world’s fastest roller coaster. It also features F1 simulators, go-karting tracks, and high-speed thrill rides.
Why in Summer? This is one of the largest climate-controlled amusement parks in the world, designed to keep the thrills high and the temperatures low. Visiting in summer means fewer queues, cooler interiors, and often exclusive summer performances not available in peak seasons.
Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi

Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi is a fully indoor theme park where you can walk through Gotham, hang with the Looney Tunes, or explore Bedrock.
Why in Summer? It’s 100% air-conditioned and temperature-controlled, making it one of the few parks globally where summer doesn’t slow you down. Plus, summer brings character parades and themed shows exclusive to the season.
Yas Waterworld

A sprawling water park with 40+ rides, including the world’s largest six-person tornado water coaster.
Why in Summer?Naturally, a water park is perfect for hot days – but Yas Waterworld goes a step further. With extended evening hours, night rides under lights, and Ladies Day every Friday, summer is when the park is at its liveliest.
Zayed Sports City Ice Rink

An Olympic-size indoor ice skating rink, offering rental gear, lessons, and open sessions.
Why in Summer? This is where you escape the heat completely – literally. The rink maintains chilly, refreshing conditions and is quieter during summer afternoons. Great for families and couples looking for a fun, surprising break from sightseeing.
Cultural Gems You Cannot Miss…

Louvre Abu Dhabi
A landmark art and civilisation museum with masterpieces from East and West, set beneath a stunning perforated dome that creates a “rain of light” effect.
Why in Summer? Its entire exhibit area is climate-controlled, and the crowds are fewer in summer. Bonus: the contrast of walking out into the shimmering sea views is particularly striking during the golden hours.
Qasr Al Watan (Presidential Palace)
A working presidential palace open to the public, showcasing Arabian architecture, mosaics, and ceremonial halls.
Why in Summer?Visit in the late afternoon to enjoy cooler palace interiors followed by the breathtaking Palace in Motion light show in the evening. Summer visitors enjoy extended operating hours and additional exhibits.
Qasr Al Hosn
Abu Dhabi’s oldest stone building, now a museum of the city’s roots, with a watchtower, historic photos, and traditional artefacts.
Why in Summer? The shaded courtyards and thick stone walls keep temperatures comfortably cool, and the interactive exhibits are uncrowded in summer. Plus, the adjoining House of Artisans offers daily summer workshops.
Summer Special Events and Festivals in Abu Dhabi

One thing you might not expect about an Abu Dhabi summer holiday is how alive the city becomes in the hotter months. Yes, it’s warm, but the city really knows how to embrace the season with a mix of cultural experiences, entertainment and events perfect for families, couples, and solo explorers.
Here's a closer look at the events that will make your summer itinerary unforgettable:
